30. Lori J. Jones
Opera For The Techno Wonders
Hello! My name is Lori J. Jones. I work for NASA at Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. I am an Information Technology (IT) Specialist / IT Project Manager within the Langley Office of the Chief Information Officer. I support all areas of NASA’s mission work including space science. I am NASA Langley’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Agency Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) that supports the IT Infrastructure Integration Program (I3P). I also lead or otherwise support various IT projects and initiatives for Langley and/or the Agency, which often involve some form of Web development and related customer support. I hold an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Rappahannock Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Business/Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.
My instrument is the flute. I have had the joy of playing for about 40 years, thanks to my musical mother, the excellent musical instruction that I received during my childhood, my Christian faith, and my natural love for music and the sound of the flute, all of which gave me inspiration, support, and encouragement to continue with the instrument. I was trained in the classical style in South Santa Clara Valley, California, which is where I was born and raised. I have had the honor and privilege to perform with several musical groups in California and Virginia, including concert and marching bands, a community orchestra, small instrumental and vocal ensembles, and Christian praise & worship bands. I have also performed many solos and accompanied several choirs. The majority of my playing these days is for services at my church, either individually or with others.
